Piccillati, a Slavic Story

I still haven’t fully understood the origin of this exquisite dessert which is produced in many villages in Molise. Definitely of Slavic origin! It is just delicious! With a fashionable, round shape, like a collar, baked, filled with Slavic “pascanisch” bread, cooked must, honey, chopped almonds, nuts and spices that change according to the recipe and tradition of the village. I bought this dessert in Mafalda prepared also using cinnamon and orange peels! Culinary ecstasy! It’s not difficult to prepare, you just need a rolling pin, baking trays and oven. Always present on big occasions including weddings and when friends come to visit us.
